Please wait...A signed limited edition print is a way of identifying an original fine art print from a reproduction or poster. It is also known as 'serial art' or 'a series of originals'.
The output of digital visual art is a unique, original digital image.
In common with other printmaking techniques such as silkscreening, etching etc. the image can theoretically be reproduced an infinite number of times.
A limited edition is a way the artist can ensure that his work is exclusive and also increases the value of his work.
With a limited edition the artist undertakes that only a certain number of a particular image will ever be printed. Each print is signed and numbered by hand by the artist. A certificate of authenticity giving as much detail as possible about the print is also issued. The certificate is completed by hand and signed and dated by the artist.
International standards exist regarding the signing and numbering of limited edition prints.
